FAQ
What’s the difference between reformer and mat Pilates?
Mat Pilates uses bodyweight and gravity. Reformer Pilates adds adjustable spring resistance for more variation, support, and challenge.
What can Pilates support?
Pilates can support core strength, movement control, mobility, balance, and body awareness.
Can Pilates support posture?
Posture is influenced by several factors, so Pilates should be viewed as one part of a broader movement approach rather than a guaranteed correction.
Is Pilates useful for injury prevention or rehabilitation?
Pilates may support movement quality, control, and joint stability. However, a general Pilates class is not a replacement for physiotherapy or medical rehabilitation. Private instruction and clinical clearance may be recommended if you are recovering from an injury or managing a specific condition.
How often should I practise Pilates?
Many people practise Pilates two to three times a week, either on its own or alongside strength, cardiovascular, and mobility training. The right frequency depends on your goals, experience, and recovery needs.
Are group and private sessions available?
Yes.
Do I need prior Pilates experience?
No. Classes are tiered by level and include regressions and progressions.
Is Pilates suitable for back or joint concerns?
Pilates is low-impact and can often be adapted, but suitability depends on the nature of the concern. Please inform the instructor before class. Clinical guidance may be required for persistent pain, a recent injury, or a diagnosed condition.
